In brief, with approximate area of 255,000 SF, the 5-story building project included construction of 200 apartments (one bed, two bed and three-bedroom units). Trusses forming an important aspect of structure on this project, close coordination was needed among all disciplines.

SERVICES OFFERED

Having a remarkable track record of successfully delivering BIM Enabled Projects (Revit Modeling, Clash Coordination and CD Set Preparation), AEODC was brought on board to deliver the defined scope with quick turnaround at LOD 350 within a tight time-frame of 6.0 to 8.0 weeks.

The scope of work included in the project:

  • Revit Modeling: Creating detailed 3D models of the architecture, structure and MEP systems using Autodesk Revit software.
  • Navisworks Clash Detection and Coordination: Utilizing Navisworks to identify and resolve clashes between various trades, ensuring smooth construction execution.
  • Architecture & Structure Sheet Preparation: Generating accurate and comprehensive construction documents, including plans, elevations, sections, and details.
  • MEP Shops: Preparation of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Coordinated Shop Drawings
  • Wood Frame Modeling and Shops: Implementing Wood frame modeling using Revit Plug-in to detect clashes between framing and MEP works followed by framing shops extraction.

PROJECT CHALLENGES

The project presented several complex challenges, including:

  • Tight Deadlines: The challenging project timeline demanded efficient workflows and rigorous project management.
  • Interdisciplinary Coordination: Coordinating among multiple disciplines such as trusses and other architecture and structure elements including MEP works required meticulous planning and communication.
  • Model Complexity: The shape, scale, size and complex trusses design of the project necessitated robust BIM methodologies and advanced software tools.

STRATEGIES IMPLEMENTED

The strategies implemented for successfully delivering the project:

  • Optimized Workflows: Leveraging advanced BIM tools and streamlined workflows to maximize productivity.
  • Collaborative Approach: Fostering strong collaboration between the design team and the construction team to ensure timely resolution to critical RFI’s.
  • Quality Assurance: Implementing rigorous quality control measures to maintain accuracy and consistency throughout the project.

By timely addressing these challenges, AEODC successfully delivered a full scale BIM enabled project that facilitated efficient construction, minimized costly errors and delays in record time at site.
